Medline Plus is a free service provided by the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Health topics include over 700 categories of conditions, diseases, and wellness, such as:
- Mental Health and Behavioral issues such as Anxiety, Depression, Dementia, Eating Disorders, Manic Depressive illness (Bipolar Disorder), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Psychotic Disorders (like Schizophrenia)
- Substance Abuse problems
- Coping with Chronic Illness such as AIDS, Cancer and Mental Health Illness
- Health Topics such as Eyes and Vision, Cancer, Heart and Cardiac Care
Each category of health topics includes information on symptoms, diagnosis, fact sheets, self-tests, coping strategies, treatment, drugs, news, information specific to age groups, research, clinical trials, and links to related organizations.
MedlinePlus.gov also contains a medical encyclopedia, medical dictionary, information on prescription drugs and over-the-counter supplements, and a service for finding local resources for health-related issues.
